Apple’s ROI, KOI and Social Listening

Apple uses technology and product design to attract new and devoted costumers alike into purchasing it’s products. There is a nostalgia and a hype created with product releases and definitely has created a fan base since Apple’s first existence in 1976 by founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

In 1998 apple sold predominantly personal computers however that all changed in 2001 with the release of the ipod. This revolutionary music player propelled apple into more than just a personal computer manufacturer. Apple was now a sought after innovative brand that lead the way in the teach industry. Not only do these products look sleek they are packaged that way too but that’s not the only things that lure you to apple. We must give credit where credit it due and that’s too it’s fantastic marketing over the years.

This success in marketing is “a direct result of marketing strategies.” -(Patel) These are very sleek products are released through social media and then the apple buzz spreads like wildfire.

Why? Well, They create pretty useful and well designed products but it goes beyond the product apple users believe these products are cooler, and make life much better than a world with just a Samsung and that is our objective.

When planning a launch on social media for a new apple product, apple’s marketing team would do some strategic thinking and set S.M.A.R.T. goals. S.M.A.R.T. are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time Sensitive strategizes that will help promote the new product, get the word out and produce some nostalgia and then see if it’s all working and most importantly measure in with ROI or Return investment. In other words how much product did they sell.

SMART goals will always be an integral way to market apple. Some Specific ways to is to always post new products on social platforms, Product placement and positive product reviews are all heavily relied on and attainable. The use of influencers is also attainable and relevant in promoting new realeases. A realistic way to approach this is to rely on apples already great reputation and ask the celebrities to continue to use them then post these images via social media.

Although historically the use of celebrities have been rare, I feel that influencer endorsement can help apple expand it’s reach especially with younger generations. Most celebrities use the i phone anyway since apple phones tend to be the most secure. Using a positive feedback from social buy posting either images or a great review. Perhaps” offering a free trial product in exchange for a positive testimonial” Setting a time frame to see how many reviews lets say give it a month. This should give us plenty of time before the next iphone is launched. (wink)

The KPI or Key Performance Indicator for Apple will be the amount of sales of a recently launched product. conclusion luckily for apple will be the sales earnings after that product is sold, it doesn’t much advice when it comes to it’s marketing efforts. Apple is doing great. they had a 50.61% ROI in Dec of 2020! Still relying on social media to continue to propel the brand with positive reviews and word of mouth won’t hurt it can only help.
